This class is a focused session on throat de-armoring, covering the connection between throat tension and pelvic/genital tension, and hands-on self-massage and stretching technique. It opens with an explanation of how the jaw, throat, and genital areas mirror each other's tension patterns (rooted in shared embryonic tissue), and how throat tension can relate to non-verbal trauma, such as memories of being unable to speak up or breathe. The class then works through external massage of the jawline, the large muscles running down the sides of the neck, and the area around the hyoid bone, followed by detailed tongue work — including "tongue pulling," a stretching technique addressing the tongue's connective tissue (the lingual frenulum) to release tension that extends deep into the throat and affects breathing and speech. Throughout, it addresses using breath and the vagus nerve connection to support release, working with emotional memories that may surface, and safety/comfort notes since self-administered throat work requires more active effort than working with a partner. A closing period is followed by a Q&A on the practice.
